LELE LUZZATI, GIULIO GIANINI AND US

The studio in Rome - The authors of animation we used to admire most, not only in Italy but in the whole world, were surely Gianini and Luzzati. Therefore, when around 1978 we decided to visit them in their studio in Rome, we were extremely excited for such a chance we had. The studio was actually fascinating, but more for their presence and drawings – everywhere on the walls - rather than for the equipment. There was a high quality camera, mounted vertically to film what was put and moved on the table. But the extraordinary thing was their creativity , their unexpected modesty and a great human sympathy. That day definitely confirmed our desire to become animators ourselves, as indeed it happened many years later.
